For more than a century, this family has been devoted to producing and selling traditional young wines made by the carbonic maceration method (whole clusters) in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa.
The vineyards, mainly small plots and advanced in years, are characterised by being located in chalky-clay soils with low fertility, mainly on slopes and terraces, with an ideal microclimate and exposure to the sun which makes them unique. As a result of these conditions, they obtain low yields, small clusters and berries of excellent quality.
More than 1000 tiny plots are needed to complete the approximately 450 hectares of estate-owned or cellar-controlled vineyards.
The use of herbicides, synthetic fertilisers and aggressive products or practices is strictly forbidden in order to protect the surroundings and obtain vines with a strengthened immune system.
The Bodega uses both French- and American-oak casks. Frequent rotation of this barrel stock means that the barrels average age is three years.
This Reserva is comprised of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano. It is raised for 18 months in cask. A combination of 60% French, 40% American oak with an average age of 2 years.
Deeply coloured, very pleasant on nose with aromas of fine wood, ripe black fruit, coffee - subtle and elegant, complex. A round and unctuous palate with great structure and juicy tannins.

Quick note on Fine Wine purchasing.
When ordering that special bottle of wine it is worth doing a little research before making a purchase. Wine is a living product, which goes through changes and stages of development in the bottle, as well as varying between vintages. If you are considering ordering an older vintage we recommend speaking to a member of staff or using a review site like cellartracker.com to try and get as full a picture as possible of the flavour profile and development of the bottle you are considering.
