Elpidios differs in its varietal proportions year-on-year. Past vintages have been predominately Syrah and Carignan harvested from 16 lots across 12 different vineyards, but the 2020 is made up of 38% Grenache Noir, 36% Syrah, 10% Cinsault, 9% Carignan, and 7% Pinotage.
Expect bramble and dark fruits on the nose, with a palate rich in blackberries, raspberries and a touch of mint. Hints of wild spices continue through to the finish — this is delicate and fresh, with a versatile medium-bodied quality that would make it a perfect companion to barbecued meats, smoked cheeses, or cured meats.
