Nestled in he heart of the Cote de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny has long been renowned for producing some of Burgundy’s most finessed and feminine Pinot Noirs. The appellation is blessed by a complex geology consisting of a top layer of limestone that covers a Jurassic subsoil combined with heat retaining, free draining alluvial gravel. The appellation lies 250-300 meters above sea level with has favourable south / south-east facing slopes and is home to 24 Premier Cru and 2 Grand Cru vineyard sites.
Domaine Amiot-Servelle began producing wine in 1989 from 7 hectares of vineyards that have been criticised organic since 2008. All grapes are harvested by hand and undergo a cold pre-fermentation maceration for 4-5 days to enhance the aroma characteristics before being fermented in steel. All wines are matured in French oak (15-50% new) for 16-18 months and are minimally filtered to enhance texture.
This Chambolle-Musigny has seen 18 months French oak ageing (20-30% new) and benefits hugely from the soli diversity in the appellation offering greater complexity on the palate. Although enjoyable in youth this wine deserves a minimum 5 years before it is drunk and has potential for 10-20 years ageing potential.

Quick note on Fine Wine purchasing.
When ordering that special bottle of wine it is worth doing a little research before making a purchase. Wine is a living product, which goes through changes and stages of development in the bottle, as well as varying between vintages. If you are considering ordering an older vintage we recommend speaking to a member of staff or using a review site like cellartracker.com to try and get as full a picture as possible of the flavour profile and development of the bottle you are considering.
