La Loyane was founded in 2001 by a collective of winemakers with four generations of experience. Their 25 hectares of family-owned vineyards in Rochefort du Gard, Tavel and Lirac benefit from exceptional terroir, and are managed with respect for the environment with lower yields from the oldest parts of the property.
This wine, named after the winemaker’s son, shows how La Loyane’s work pays off. This is a blend of 60% Grenache and 40% Syrah from 80-year-old vines planted in mixed soils of red sand, clay and round pebbles. The grapes are hand-harvested, and vinification takes place in 50% old barrels and 50% stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then matured in 'demi-muid' barrels for 12 months. Expect lots of black fruit notes with a touch of vanilla from the oak, with a long and generous palate bursting with rich red fruits and a touch of subtle spice.
